Abosede, the mother of the late Nigerian artist Mohbad, recently made strong statements regarding her son’s life and the ongoing family disputes following his untimely death. During a TikTok live session, she revealed that Mohbad had kept his marriage to Omowunmi and the birth of their child private due to the pressures and threats from his former label head, Naira Marley.
“My son lived in fear all his life. It was because of Naira Marley that my son did not publicise his wedding and the birth of his son. Mohbad was a good man. He never trafficked cocaine. I am saying this with conviction,” Abosede asserted, emphasizing her son’s integrity.
She also made serious claims about the delay in the DNA test meant to confirm the paternity of Mohbad’s son, Liam. According to her, Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, was responsible for the hold-up, even though she and Omowunmi were both prepared to proceed with the test.
“Jossy is the one delaying the DNA. We are ready for DNA. Wunmi must do the DNA because of Liam. I know he is my grandchild. When Mohbad was alive he never mentioned Liam was not his,” Abosede said.
She reflected on how, just days before Mohbad’s passing, Joseph Aloba had taken photos with Liam, signaling that he had no doubts about the child’s paternity.
Abosede also addressed rumors surrounding her son’s character, particularly accusations of drug trafficking, and firmly denied these claims. “Mohbad was a good person. He never trafficked cocaine,” she stated.
Additionally, Abosede responded to allegations regarding Mohbad’s brother, Adura. She clarified that Adura was not the person who had contacted actor Yomi Fabiyi with information about Mohbad’s death, accusing Fabiyi of attempting to mislead the public by implicating her son based on incorrect claims from a third party named Damola.
Earlier, Mohbad’s widow, Omowunmi, had publicly criticized Joseph Aloba for avoiding the DNA test, a situation that has continued to fuel speculation about his motives.
Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023, under mysterious circumstances. His remains were exhumed for an autopsy nine days later, but the investigation and family conflicts surrounding his death remain unresolved, continuing to captivate public attention.
