Popular music artiste Naira Marley on Friday testified in a Magistrate Court in Ikorodu via virtual hearing in the Coroner’s inquest into the death of late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad. In testifying before Magistrate Adedayo Shotobi, Naira Marley disclosed that Mohbad had signed a record deal with his record label, Marlian Records, for four albums. The albums never materialized as there were constant disagreements between Mohbad and his manager, Opere Babatunde. The artist refuted ever threatening or attacking Mohbad, citing a police report that had exonerated him of such claims. When questioned on a viral clip where Mohbad stated Naira Marley and the Marlian crew should be held responsible in case anything happens to him, Marley replied that the deceased singer and his parents later issued an apology, stating that the clip was filmed when Mohbad was under the influence of drugs. “The only issue he had was with Tunde his manager. Their fight started from a group chat which I still have the evidence with me. I tried to settle their differences but it got out of hand to the extent that they got physical. “I even gave Mohbad the option of changing his manager if that would make him happy. When they got physical I didn’t report to the police because it was Mohbad that employed Tunde.” “I have never threatened Mohbad neither did I bully him. Samlarry is a friend to both me and Mohbad. I never instructed him to beat Mohbad. I never cheated him neither did I exploit him. “I requested for a virtual hearing today because of my safety. I have received threats from people saying they will kill me if I ever show up at Ikorodu. Ever since Mohbad left my record label, I never set my eyes on him. I was not in Nigeria when he died. I only came back to Nigeria to support the case,” he stated. Another witness, Mohbad’s lawyer, Oluwasanmi Falade, challenged Marley’s assertions, confirming that there had been a disagreement between Mohbad, the deceased artist, and Marlian Records over unpaid royalties. Falade revealed that he had written a series of letters to Marlian Records on Mohbad’s behalf but never got a response. He also added that the matter was currently in court under the Federal High Court. According to sources, the lawyer also testified that Mohbad was attacked by music promoter Sam Larry at Lekki Beach and had reported the matter at the police. The Force Headquarters allegedly made two unsuccessful attempts to arrest Sam Larry, Falade added. In her follow-up ruling after testimonies, the Magistrate directed Sam Larry to appear again at the Coroner’s court next adjourned date, that is April 11. The Coroner also directed that the Coroner issues a witness summons to Mohbad’s driver so that they may give their testimony. The court also directed pathologist, who conducted an independent autopsy on Mohbad, to send his findings both to the Coroner’s court and Chief Coroner prior to adjournment in the next sitting. The post-mortem on Mohbad remains ongoing as police try to determine the circumstances surrounding the death of the late singer. Related Posts Uriel was evicted, not Adekunle or Doyin. Offices of the Zone 2 Lagos state police command on Wednesday, March 19, arrested Audra, the brother of late musician Ilerioluwa Aloba, aka Mohbad, and his friend, Ibrahim Koleosho, aka King White, at the Magistrates’ Court area in Ogba, Lagos State. Punch reports that the two men were said to have been arrested after they had attended a legal hearing regarding a phone they sold to one Damola Ayinde. Reports indicate that they were arrested following a petition by actor and activist, Yomi Fabiyi on Friday, December 13, 2024, alleging that the brother of the deceased initiated an Instagram conversation where he claimed to have video evidence of how Mohbad d!ed. Fabiyi in the petition he uploaded on his social media platforms, alleged that Adura demanded the sum of N3m to be paid via Bitcoin in exchange for the video evidence. Adura, however, denied the allegations stating the chat was that of Ayinde to whom he had sold his phone. A forensic test has since been conducted while the court continues to investigate the case. To the arrest, the mother of Abosede Adura, crying and pleading in a viral video, sought help to locate her son. Weeping in a viral video inside a car, she claimed Yomi Fabiyi, an actor, and Sam Jojo orchestrated the “kidnapping.” Speaking in Yoruba, she said “Please help me, Nigerians. Yomi Fabiyi and Sam Jojo have taken my son. I don’t know where they are taking him to. He asked them to take my son away. My son did nothing to them. They must not lay a hand on him, he is sick. Demola, you’ve put me in trouble. Mohbad’s spirit will fight you.” Adura had earlier in December demanded a public apology from Fabiyi, Ayinde, and others, alleging that they hacked into his TikTok account to damage his reputation. He had also sued them for N1bn for defamation, tampering with evidence, and fraudulent accusation of implicating him. A relative who talked to the paper on Wednesday said the arrest was not unconnected to a shouting contest between Koleoso and Fabiyi. “We don’t know the whereabouts of Adura but I can confirm that his friend, Koleosho, was arrested after the court proceedings today. Everything just happened suddenly. We learnt there has been some exchange of words between Koleosho and Fabiyi over the issue relating to the phone and this may have led to the arrest. We don’t know where the security men came from but we have been trying to locate their whereabouts.” the family source disclosed A police confirmed that they were arrested by operatives of the Zone 2 Police Command “Yes, they were arrested by the police operatives from Zone 2, Onikan, not men of the Lagos State Command,” he said. Late musician Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, has been addressed by his father, Mr. Joseph Aloba, after the testimony of Nurse Feyi at the ongoing coroner’s inquest. Speaking on the testimony, Mohbad father criticized his daughter-in-law, Wunmi, accusing her of negligence in handling her husband’s medical needs. The nurse who had traveled from Cotonou to care for Mohbad revealed the final moments of the musician when she testified on Friday. Mohbad father also refuted Wunmi’s earlier claim that he had instructed the release of the nurse, stating that he had never met Nurse Feyi before seeing her in court. He further disclosed that the court is set to receive the private autopsy report next Friday. “What I heard in court has now made me to know that Wunmi didn’t care for her husband. She had to wait for an auxiliary nurse for good 24 hours and not a qualified nurse to treat her husband. “The nurse also confirmed it in court that she has never met me before and she was just meeting me for the first time in court and wunmi lied that her father in law said they should release the nurse, someone I never set my eyes on. We are expecting the pathologist to read the result of the private autopsy next Friday. “SAN Shittu wanted the court to invite the Doctor that pronounced Mohbad ded but the court didn’t grant the request. I detected a lot of new things from the nurse’s testimony. She said Adura was never in the house when she got there. She also said that when they were rushing Mohbad out of the house, they were carrying him like a baby. This shows that he was already ded in the house before they carried him to the hospital.” Related Posts Nigeria’s Path to Prosperity: Transforming Challenges Into Sustainable Success Over the past 14 years as the Founder of TEXEM, UK, and previously as a Director of Strategy in Cambridge, Read more Nigerian Equities Market Defies Economic Challenges, Posts Record N21.8 Trillion Gain in 2024 ‏The Nigerian equities market demonstrated exceptional resilience in 2024, achieving a remarkable gain of N21.845 trillion despite economic headwinds such Read more 2024 Elections: A Mixed Bag of Milestones, Setbacks, and Electoral Integrity Challenges The year 2024 marked a significant milestone for Nigeria as it celebrated 25 years of uninterrupted democratic rule. While Wunmi has previously described her relationship with Mohbad as loving and supportive, the viral video has led many to question the true nature of their marriage. In the footage, Wunmi appears ready to leave the house when Mohbad glances at her phone, sparking tension between them. The controversy surrounding Wunmi deepened after Joseph Aloba, Mohbad’s father, accused her of infidelity during their marriage. The video has triggered a wave of reactions online, with opinions divided: @kellisdyno: That girl bullied Mohbad to death. @big_wiz_lifestyle: We all know Mohbad died in Wunmi’s hands. @jkmeals: Your partner can’t check your Snapchat? Olawunmi Aloba, the wife of late Nigerian singer Mohbad, has opened up about the pain and turmoil she has endured since his tragic passing. Mohbad, whose real name was Ilerioluwa Aloba, died on September 12, 2023, leaving a deep void in the Nigerian music industry. Despite ongoing court hearings, police investigations, and public outcry, the exact circumstances of his death remain unclear, and his body is yet to be buried. In a recent interview, Wunmi expressed her grief and anger, particularly toward the nurse who administered an injection to Mohbad before his death. According to her, the nurse, who is set to face an inquest on March 14, 2025, has shown no remorse for her actions. “She made me a widow. She’s been living her life like nothing happened. I really don’t know if the injection my husband was given was a mistake,” Wunmi said. She explained that the nurse was only called in because Mohbad’s personal nurse was unavailable at the time. A close associate had recommended her, not knowing the tragic consequences that would follow. Wunmi also spoke about the impact of Mohbad’s death on their son, Liam, saying he has not had the chance to experience a normal childhood. “If I see the nurse face to face, the only thing I will tell her is that she will experience everything she has done to me,” she added. Nigerian artist Naira Marley has broken his silence after being cleared of any involvement in the death of fellow musician Mohbad. In a heartfelt statement shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, Marley revealed that he and Mohbad had resolved their past differences before the tragic incident. However, he expressed deep frustration over how the situation was handled, criticizing the delay in Mohbad’s burial and the ever-changing narratives surrounding his passing. Despite repeatedly denying any wrongdoing, Marley endured heavy public scrutiny and accusations. Reflecting on the ordeal, he shared his pain, saying: “I never thought silence could be so loud. I never thought someone I called my brother, someone I protected, would leave this world with my name in his shadow. I have carried this weight, this pain, this shame that was never mine to bear.” He acknowledged that mistakes were made within his Marlian crew but insisted that any issues were business-related, not personal. He maintained that he and Mohbad had reached an understanding before his death, stating: “I made peace with Mohbad. We understood each other beyond the noise, beyond the misunderstandings. And you know this.” Marley also accused those close to Mohbad of shifting blame onto him, saying they allowed the world to paint him as a villain while knowing the truth. He criticized them for withholding key information and delaying the musician’s burial, adding: “Telling the truth from the beginning would have given him the rest he deserves.” Despite his struggles, Marley declared that he has faced the justice system head-on and will stand by the truth, regardless of the challenges. A Yaba magistrate court dismissed all charges against Marley, Sammy Larry, and Prime Boy on Tuesday, officially clearing them of any connection to Mohbad’s death. Wunmi, the widow of late singer Mohbad, has provided a detailed account of the events leading to his tragic passing. In a recent interview on TVC’s Your View show, she shared that Mohbad suffered a severe reaction after receiving injections from a nurse who was treating his wounds. According to Wunmi, the nurse arrived around 2 p.m. while she was in the kitchen preparing for their son Liam’s five-month celebration. Due to space constraints, they moved to the master bedroom for the treatment. Recalling the incident, she stated: “The nurse examined the wounded part, and I informed her that my husband was an ulcer patient, so she should be careful with what she administered. I asked about the injections, and she mentioned tetanus and other medications. She gave him the first and second injections without issue, but when she administered the third, he immediately asked her to take it out, saying he needed to throw up and urinate.” Wunmi explained that after helping Mohbad to the restroom, he suddenly collapsed and began to complain of a burning sensation in his heart while asking for water. She continued: “We poured water on him, and he asked for the air condition because he was feeling extremely hot inside. He started having goosebumps and continued throwing up, so we moved him to Liam’s room, where there was an AC. Still, he was uncomfortable, so we sought help from a neighbor to take him to the hospital because his car was faulty.” Due to heavy traffic, they resorted to transporting him to the hospital on a motorcycle. Sadly, upon arrival, the doctor pronounced him dead. Mohbad’s unexpected death on September 12, 2023, has led to widespread public outcry, with many demanding a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his passing.
