The Association of Practising Professional Project Managers of Nigeria (APPPMON) has declared Nigeria as the world’s number one country in failed projects, predicated on alarming statistics like over 13,000 abandoned projects by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
Dr. Inemi Stephen, an association senior officer and chief editor of the ABOKI Research Project, made this known on Tuesday in Port Harcourt during the launching of the new project: the APPPMON Body of Knowledge and Innovation (ABOKI). Dr. Inemi Stephen described ABOKI as a strategic response to Nigeria’s long-standing issues of project abandonment, cost overrun, and policy failures.
Stephen emphasized that ABOKI is dedicated to creating a future where Nigerian projects are more sustainable, explainable, and accountable. He noted that ABOKI is a Nigerian-led solution to Nigeria’s project management crisis, and at its core is research and interdisciplinarity.
The project seeks to understand the root cause of Nigeria’s project management failures and proposes a strategic reversal of the adverse trend of abandoned projects and inefficiencies.
