Chiedu Ebie, the Attorney Slated to Serve as Chairman of NDDC

Just now, the Niger Delta Development Commission’s new board of directors was announced. In a statement released on Tuesday, presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale declared that the new appointments are effective immediately. Notable among the board members is Chiedu Ebie of Delta State, who was named as the NDDC’s chairman.

Life in Academia

Chiedu Ebie is a graduate of both the University of Benin and the Nigerian Law School. He practiced law as a corporate and commercial attorney in Lagos.

A profession

Over two decades, the 52-year-old technocrat has had a distinguished career in the private sector. Chiedu Ebie became a partner at the law firms Okonjo, Odiawa & Ebie and Punuka Attorneys & Solicitors following brief stints in the legal department of Broad Bank of Nigeria and as company secretary of the holding company for one of the country’s leading publications.

During his tenure at these companies, he served as a part-time managing director for Millennium Oil and Gas Company Limited, eventually transitioning to a full-time position. Subsequently, he assumed the position of managing director and chief executive officer at Millennium Oil and Gas.

In his previous position, he was in charge of a Nigerian indigenous hydrocarbon exploration and production company with offices in Lagos and Port Harcourt. Chiedu Ebie has been heavily involved in the development of this asset over the past decade, and the Oza asset is scheduled to begin commercial production in the first quarter of 2015.
