The management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, has launched a full-scale investigation into the viral incident involving a physical altercation between a female student and a male lecturer. In a press statement signed on Tuesday by the university’s Acting Head of Public Relations, Njelita Louis, UNIZIK confirmed that the individuals involved are Dr. Chukwudi Okoye, a lecturer in the Department of Theatre Arts and Film Studies, and Goddy Mbakwe Precious, a 300-level History and International Studies student.
The incident, which stemmed from a dispute over a TikTok video recording, escalated when the student allegedly bit the lecturer, sparking widespread debate after the footage went viral on social media. The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Ikechebelu, has ordered a thorough and impartial inquiry into the case.
“We urge all concerned parties and the public to remain calm as we diligently pursue the truth. The university is committed to discipline, fairness, and justice, and appropriate actions will be taken based on the investigation’s findings,” the statement read.
