Federal Polytechnic Bauchi Student Killed in Hit-and-Run, Driver Arrested

Health

A hit-and-run truck driver on Wednesday tragically killed Ms. Faith Aluku Adeshola, a diploma journalism student at the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi’s Mass Communication Department. The incident occurred while Faith was crossing the road to attend an evening lecture. She was riding on a motorcycle when the speeding truck rammed into them  killing her on the spot.

Authorities have since arrested the truck driver and the Okada rider, with both currently in police custody. The deceased’s body has been deposited at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital morgue. The President of the Students’ Union Government (SUG), Comrade Haruna Umar, revealed that Faith was still processing her registration at the time of her death. He urged students to remain calm and assured them that the school management and security agencies were working to ensure justice is served.

Umar also called on the Polytechnic’s management and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to install speed bumps near the school fence to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
