Celebrity chef Hilda Baci has come under fire after a dissatisfied customer, Omotayo Zinnat, criticized the quality and portion size of the peppersoup she ordered from Baci’s restaurant, My Food By Hilda. In a video, Omotayo shared that she had a tough day at work and, feeling too unwell to cook, decided to order the N6,000 peppersoup.
However, she was disappointed with the dish, describing it as small, unappealing, and comparing its appearance to “dog vomit.” When she reached out to the restaurant, she was told they were still working on improving portion sizes. Omotayo expressed her frustration, saying she expected more from a chef of Hilda’s caliber.
Her remarks were supported by Vincent Martins Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman (VDM), who agreed the food was unworthy of Hilda Baci’s reputation. However, VDM also criticized Omotayo for choosing to order food instead of cooking at home.
He argued that modern civilization and “wokeness” were to blame for such decisions, suggesting that women who rely on takeout might struggle to cook for their families in the future. The comments sparked heated debates on social media, with users weighing in on both sides:
- @diebere: “Make I shame to buy food from restaurant ke? Make hunger kill me because of what a stranger thinks?”
- @elijnr1: “What is wrong with buying food from a restaurant? Oga, go and sleep.”
- @itsomolewa00: “If I want to eat out and the food is bad, shouldn’t I complain? I paid for it.”
