Nigerian actress, filmmaker, and producer Funke Akindele has openly identified as a feminist but made it clear that her advocacy does not support women being disrespectful to their husbands in the name of feminism.
In a recent video, Akindele addressed skit creator Kamo State and his wife, emphasizing that women are not the “weaker sex.” She highlighted that women are strong, bold, and should be treated with respect, urging men to move beyond traditional stereotypes that confine women to domestic roles.
Akindele also stressed the importance of financial independence for women, encouraging them to secure economic power to support their families and maintain their dignity.
“I’m a feminist, but I do not support a woman disrespecting her husband. Do what is right.
We are not the weaker sex. Men should treat us with respect and not see women as only fit for the kitchen.
Women are strong and bold. Our economic power is important, and we should protect it to support our husbands.”
