Shettima to Atiku: Expect More Political Jabs in 2027

Vice President Kashim Shettima has told former Vice President Atiku Abubakar that while he holds him in high regard, it won’t stop him from taking political shots at him ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Shettima made the lighthearted remark on Thursday, February 6, while acknowledging dignitaries at a symposium in Abuja celebrating the 60th birthday of former Ekiti State governor, Kayode Fayemi.

Recalling his role in the 2023 presidential election, Shettima described himself as an “adjunct provocateur” who took “hot shots” at Atiku. He, however, praised Atiku for handling the criticisms with calmness.

“In private conversations, I call him ‘Baba,’ but come 2027, he should expect more shots from me,” Shettima quipped, drawing laughter from the audience—including Atiku himself, who smiled at the remark.
