Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) 2023 presidential candidate, recently visited former military president General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) at his residence in Minna, Niger State. Obi shared details of the visit on his X account on Thursday, revealing that his discussions with Babangida followed a meeting with Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi. The two leaders engaged in talks concerning various national issues.
The LP candidate took the opportunity to extend his New Year greetings to General Babangida, whom he described as a respected father figure and elder statesman. Obi expressed how much he values the insights and wisdom of the former president.
“From Jigawa state, I travelled to Minna, Niger State to pay a visit to a father figure, elder statesman and leader, the former military president, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, at his residence in Minna, Niger State. The visit was an opportunity to wish him a happy New Year and to exchange thoughts on national issues,” Obi wrote.
He continued, “General Babangida’s wisdom and perspectives remain very important and I always deeply appreciate the chance to visit him and listen to his invaluable advice and words of wisdom. A new Nigeria is POssible!”
