Kano State Governor, Engr. Abba Yusuf, has officially signed the state’s 2025 budget, amounting to over ₦719 billion, into law. The budget, initially proposed at ₦549 billion, was increased to ₦719 billion by the State House of Assembly after public hearings held on November 12, 2024. The adjustments reflect inputs from citizens and civil society organizations advocating for greater emphasis on developmental priorities.
Governor Yusuf, who presented the original proposal to the Assembly on November 8, 2024, praised the lawmakers for their swift and thorough review, concluding the budget approval process in just two months. During the signing ceremony at the State House of Assembly, Yusuf affirmed that implementation of the budget would begin on January 1, 2025. He called on ministries, departments, and agencies to ensure the efficient and transparent use of funds to achieve the budget’s goals.
The governor also expressed appreciation to Speaker Jibril Isma’ila Falgore and the legislative team for their dedication, as well as to Kano residents and civil society organizations for their valuable contributions during the budget preparation process.
