The All Progressives Congress (APC) Kaduna State branch has downplayed the defection of former Governor Nasir el-Rufai to the Social Democratic Party (SDP), citing that the party is not shaken. El-Rufai announced his withdrawal from the APC on his authentic Facebook and X accounts, alluding to a greater misfit between his personal values and the party’s course of action presently. Reflecting on his input towards the birth of the APC, he was dismayed that his ideals were not realized.
Responding, Kaduna APC Secretary Alhaji Yahaya Baba-Pate stated that the party is not disturbed by the move, claiming that its priority is to win election for President Bola Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani in 2027.
“The APC in Kaduna State is increasing day by day with top politicians joining us. We are not concerned about any defection,” Baba-Pate stated.
Despite El-Rufai’s departure, the APC remains confident in its influence and electoral prospects in the state.
