A heated exchange unfolded on Arise TV’s Morning Show on Tuesday, February 11, as Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser on Public Communications and Media to President Bola Tinubu, clashed with TV anchor Rufai Oseni over his shift in political stance.
The confrontation began when Rufai Oseni questioned why Bwala, who had previously criticized Tinubu’s administration, was now serving in the government. As Bwala responded, Rufai interjected, urging him to stay on topic and directly answer the question.
Visibly irritated, Bwala fired back:
“I’m not writing JAMB here; you cannot control me or talk to me like a secondary school student. If you ask a question, pack and listen to the answer.”
Before his appointment, Bwala was a vocal critic of Tinubu, accusing him of election rigging and questioning his legitimacy.
At the time, he was a spokesman for Atiku Abubakar, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Rufai confronted Bwala about his past remarks, reminding him that he once described the Tinubu-led government as “a joke and a night of a thousand laughs.”
In response, Bwala defended his decision to join the administration, explaining that opposition politics involves “emphasizing weaknesses and downplaying strengths” of the ruling party.
“When I made a decision on the 10th of January after I visited the President, I speak well of the president and support his government,” he said.
