Ayaba Abiwumi Owoade, the wife of the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I, has stressed the need for peace and communal harmony as a collective responsibility for the people of Oyo metropolis.
Delivering a condolence visit to the victims of a land crisis in Ilora, Afijio Local Government Area, on Wednesday, Alaafin’s queen stressed unity for individual development, community advancement, and institutions.
“Peace gives an enablement context for human capital building and infrastructural development. The time to build a sustainable and strong communal cohesion has come. All activities that undermine harmony must be dropped,” she stated.
Ayaba Abiwumi stressed the fact that unity encourages cooperation, allowing people to combine their strengths in order to survive. She urged people to cultivate good relationships and bring peace to their communities.
As we navigate in a more globalized world, embracing oneness is not just a fantasy but a necessity. United in spirit and purpose, people gain the energy to overcome adversity, reaping more achievements and success in numbers,” she said.
She also added that among the core principles of her husband, Oba Owoade I, is an appreciation of common humanity and respecting differences, constructing inclusive dialogue, and promoting empathy.
“Through working together and being together, individuals can overcome challenges, reach their full potential, and create a brighter future,” she added.
As part of her visitation, Ayaba Abiwumi donated N50,000 to each of the victims on behalf of the Alaafin, a move that showed the royal family’s resolve to be with their people in times of turmoil.
