Rema Sparks Reactions with New Hairstyle and Bold Fashion Statement

Rema

Nigerian music sensation Rema, born Divine Ikubor, has set social media abuzz with his latest look, featuring a fresh hairstyle and a striking fashion choice. The Afrobeats star, known for his signature dreadlocks, was recently spotted sporting a new hairstyle, complete with decorative hairpins, in a photo shoot for UK publication Dazed.

The images, which surfaced on Elon Musk’s X (formerly Twitter), also showcased Rema in a Bottega outfit, striking a tilted pose that some found intriguing. This isn’t the first time Rema has changed his hairstyle. In 2020, he famously cut off his dreadlocks in solidarity with the #EndSARS movement, clarifying that:

“Dreads don’t mean I’m a criminal. #EndSARS”

While some fans appreciated his fashion-forward approach, others weren’t sure what to make of his new aesthetic.

Nollywood producer Stanley Ontop jokingly questioned if Rema was competing for the title of “Queen of Africa.”

He shared the photos on Instagram, writing:

“Tongues wag, women and men faint as Rema turns herself into the Queen of Africa. Rema and Tana dey compete. What’s the bending for? 🤷‍♂️ Anyways, what do I know?”
