President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau MON, has assured Nigerians of the Federation’s commitment to adequately preparing the country’s National Teams for major tournaments in 2025. Reflecting on 2024 and outlining plans for the new year, Gusau emphasized the need for all teams to contend strongly for honors rather than merely participating in competitions.
“The era of Nigerian teams simply turning up at championships is over. We are committed to preparing our teams well in advance to ensure they compete credibly for titles,” Gusau said on Monday.
Highlighting the Super Eagles B team’s impressive qualification for the 8th African Nations Championship (CHAN) following a dominant victory over Ghana’s Black Galaxies, Gusau attributed the success to early camping and vowed to maintain this standard.
“The Super Eagles B must return to camp immediately, with just one month before the CHAN tournament. Their preparation will be a priority,” he added.
While commending some national teams for their performances in 2024, Gusau acknowledged concerns over the Super Eagles’ inconsistent showing in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, vowing to address the challenges in the coming year.
