Nigerian lawyer Deji Adeyanju has alleged that the Imo State police are refusing to release his client, singer Speed Darlington, or take him before a judge for trial.
Speed Darlington, who was initially arrested in October following a petition filed by fellow artist Burna Boy, was re-arrested in November in Owerri for jumping bail. According to Adeyanju’s recent post, the singer remains in custody and has neither been released nor charged in court.
Deji Adeyanju further claimed that the police are holding Speed Darlington because, during his previous release on bail, he failed to appear when requested. The lawyer emphasized that this is the reason for the ongoing detention, despite the lack of formal charges.
