Manchester City legend Kevin De Bruyne has confirmed he will leave the club at the end of the season, bringing an end to an amazing 10-year tenure at the Etihad Stadium.
The 33-year-old midfielder, whose deal expires this summer, confirmed on Friday that he would not be signing a new contract.
In an emotional open letter to supporters published on social media, De Bruyne bid farewell to the club and its supporters.
“Dear Manchester,” the Belgian wrote. “Looking at this you probably know where this is going. So I’ll just say it, these are my last few months as a Manchester City player.”
He also added, “This will always be our HOME. We can’t thank the city, club, staff, teammates, friends, and family enough for this 10-year journey.
Every story has an ending, but this has been by far the best chapter. Let’s enjoy these last moments together! Much love, KDB.”
De Bruyne moved to City from Wolfsburg in 2015 for £52 million and has since become one of the club’s all-time greats.
In a decade, he has been instrumental in City’s ascension to domestic and European supremacy.
His sparkling tenure features six Premier League titles, five Carabao Cups, two FA Cups, and a historic 2023 Champions League win that sealed a legendary Treble.
In total, De Bruyne has made 413 appearances for Manchester City, scoring 106 and assisting 174—numbers that speak volumes about his incredible influence on the pitch.
