Manchester City have completed the signing of Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt in a deal worth €70m (£59m), with add-ons potentially rising by an additional £4m.
The 25-year-old has signed a contract with the Premier League champions until June 2029.
Marmoush has been in red-hot form this season, scoring 15 goals in 17 Bundesliga appearances, making him the league’s second-highest scorer behind Harry Kane, who has netted 16 goals for Bayern Munich.
Speaking about his move, Marmoush expressed his excitement: “Manchester City is one of the biggest clubs in the world over the past 10 years, so it was not a question.
It’s a pleasure and an honor for me and my family to represent Manchester City. My dreams are becoming a reality.”
The versatile forward, who can play as a striker, number 10, or winger, described his style of play: “On the pitch, I’m fast, good on the ball, and always look to exploit spaces. My main strength is my hunger to win – that’s just who I am.”
City’s director of football, Txiki Begiristain, praised Marmoush’s “outstanding pace and awareness,” highlighting his versatility as a valuable asset for the team.
Marmoush began his professional career at Wadi Degla in the Egyptian Premier League before moving to VfL Wolfsburg in 2020.
He had loan spells at FC St Pauli and VfB Stuttgart before joining Frankfurt in 2023, where he scored 37 goals and provided 20 assists in 67 appearances.
The Egyptian international joins Manchester City as part of an active January transfer window that has also seen the club sign 19-year-old Brazilian defender Vitor Reis from Palmeiras for £30m and Uzbekistan defender Abdukodir Khusanov from Lens for £34m.
