Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to ten #EndBadGovernance protesters, each in the sum of N10 million.
The bail conditions also require each defendant to provide one surety for the same amount.
The ruling, delivered by Justice Nwite, emphasized the principle that anyone charged with a criminal offense must be presumed innocent until proven guilty.
He acknowledged the argument made by the defense counsel, Abubakar Marshall, for the 1st, 2nd, and 4th defendants, supporting the presumption of innocence.
Despite the serious nature of the charges, including alleged treason, inciting mutiny, and attempts to destabilize Nigeria, Justice Nwite decided to grant bail to all ten defendants.
The protesters—Michael Adaramoye (also known as Lenin), Adeyemi Abayomi, Suleiman Yakubu, Opaoluwa Simon, Angel Innocent, Buhari Lawal, Mosiu Sadiq, Bashir Bello, Nuradeen Khamis, and Aabdulsalam Zubairu—were initially arraigned on September 2.
