Ex-Policeman Kills Self after Killing Two Relatives, and Another Third Person in Lagos

A retired police officer, Charles Atideka, accused of killing three individuals, two of his relatives at Yovoyan community in the Badagry axis of Lagos State, committed suicide.

According lindaikejisblog, the incident that was attributed to an age-long land dispute occurred about 2am on Tuesday, April 1, 2025. The targets, Richard Atideka and Latevi Atideka, both members of the Yovoyan community and Muji Onilude of the nearby Gberefu community, were allegedly sh0t d3ad by the now ex-police officer and his co-conspirator.

Lagos State Police Command Spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the report to Punch on Wednesday indicated that the offender went ahead to take his own life after allegedly committing the offense. The former police officer, according to Hundeyin, was said to have taken a toxic substance, went into unconsciousness and was then rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced d3ad.

The suspect in the case is deceased. He murdered three people and allegedly poisoned himself after he had carried out the offense. He was subsequently taken to the hospital, where the physician certified him d3ad. His body and those of whom he killed have been placed in the morgue.” The PPRO added that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
