A police officer in Kaduna State, Hadaina Hussaini Dan-Taki, has sparked outrage with a social media post threatening retaliatory attacks against Southerners living in northern Nigeria. His comments followed the recent lynching of 16 northern travellers by an illegal vigilante group in Uromi, Esan North-East Local Government Area of Edo State.
In a heated Facebook post on Tuesday, Dan-Taki swore by Almighty God that northerners would respond decisively. “I swear to Almighty God, we must do something for you guys. Have you forgotten all your brothers living here in the North? Mark my words, after one week, you shall see the result,” he wrote.
Facing backlash, Dan-Taki later changed his first name and restricted access to his Facebook page. However, an X (formerly Twitter) user, @UcheDIgboezeson, shared a screenshot of the post and tagged Force Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, urging action.
Adejobi promptly responded, stating, “Noted for necessary action. Thanks.” The incident has raised concerns over inflammatory rhetoric from security personnel and the potential for further tensions.
