Ex-Minister Bolaji Abdullahi Resigns from PDP, Cites Personal Conviction

Former Minister of Sports and prominent Kwara politician, Malam Bolaji Abdullahi, has resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a letter dated December 16, 2024, and addressed to the PDP chairman in his Ubandawaki Ward, Ilorin West Local Government Area, Abdullahi described the decision as “difficult” after days of reflection and introspection.

“I have had ample time to reflect, and I have come to the difficult conclusion that this is the only tenable option for me at this time,” Abdullahi wrote, expressing gratitude to the party leadership for the opportunities to serve the state and country.

The resignation was confirmed by Alhaji Mas’ud Adebimpe, a close ally of Abdullahi and former chief press secretary to ex-Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki.

Reacting to the development, PDP State Publicity Secretary, Olushola Adewara, described Abdullahi’s exit as a personal decision, adding that the party harbors no ill feelings.

“The decision is personal to him, and he didn’t state any grievance against the party or our leader. We wish him good luck on his new adventure,” Adewara stated.
