Dangote Group Denies Involvement in Enugu Fatal Crashes, Warns Against Misuse of Brand Logo

The Dangote Group has debunked reports attributing its trucks to two independent deadly accidents that took place in Enugu State on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, with the clarification that investigations by the police established its vehicles never participated.

The company, in its statement released on Thursday, quoted the findings by the Enugu State Police Command indicating the trucks responsible for the crashes belong to Visco Investment Global and Global Investment, not the Dangote Group.

As stated in the police report, the initial crash happened at approximately 9 a.m. on the inward Enugu-bound channel. A Howo truck owned by Visco Investment Global carrying bags of cement struck a Toyota Corolla that was attempting to overtake another car. In the melee, a Foton bus and Daihatsu Hijet mini bus traveling against traffic also got involved. The truck head together with the Corolla caught the fire after the impact, resulting in the deaths of all the five car occupants while one passenger in the mini bus met the similar fate.

The second took place at approximately 3 p.m. on the same day with regards to a Sino truck owned by Global Investment and involving a tricycle. In the incidence, the truck with cement, traveling one-way, collided with the tricycle, resulting in the deaths of all the four occupants who died in the hospital.

In its statement, the Dangote Group condoled with the victims and their families and went on to condemn the misinformation that falsely linked its brand to the tragedies.

“We extend our heartfelt sympathies to the victims and their families,” the statement went on. “However, we urge the public and media to desist in sending across unverified reports suggesting an involvement of Dangote trucks in the said incidents.”

The company went on also to caution truckers on the unauthorised use of its brand logo, noting that some owners have on previous occasion been found using the Dangote brand area identiy on their lorries without authorisation.

“Going forward, it will heighten vigilance on the part of such deeds and initiate appropriate legal action in the event of unauthorised use of the brand logo on non-Group owned lorries,” the company said.

The clarification followed after reports on social media extensively blamed the Dangote trucks for the accidents with the twodeaths respectively.
