APC Targets Rivers State Takeover in 2027, Says Ganduje

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has announced the party’s intention to capture Rivers State in the 2027 general election.

Speaking in Port Harcourt on Saturday during the inauguration of the Chief Tony Okocha-led state executive, Ganduje highlighted the party’s recent successes, including winning Cross River in 2019 and Edo State in 2024, as a foundation for their next objective.

“You are to ensure internal democracy and attract new members to the party,” Ganduje told the newly inaugurated executives. He urged them to foster peace, stability, and political growth within the party, emphasizing that Rivers State is now their prime target in the South-South zone.

He added, “During the Buhari administration, we took Cross River. Under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, we secured Edo State. Out of six states in the zone, we now have two. Our next mission is Rivers State, and it is a task that must be achieved.”
