Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has stirred controversy with a provocative statement suggesting that numerous pastors were originally meant to be traditional healers, or “Dibia” in Igbo culture, but have been deterred by Western influences and media perceptions.
In a bold Facebook post on December 13, Edochie argued that societal conditioning and cultural brainwashing have pushed these individuals away from their traditional spiritual calling.
He implies that the stigma surrounding traditional African spiritual practices, largely influenced by Western religious perspectives and media narratives, has misdirected many potential traditional healers.
