Super Eagles and Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface has encountered a setback in his recovery from a thigh injury sustained during international duty in November.
Bayer Leverkusen announced the setback ahead of their friendly against Rot-Weiß Oberhausen on Sunday, describing it as “a small step backwards in the rehabilitation process.”
The forward, who trained with the team for the first time shortly before Christmas, was initially expected to return to action in Bayer Leverkusen’s Bundesliga clash against Borussia Dortmund next weekend. However, his return date is now uncertain.
Boniface has been a standout performer for Die Werkself this season, scoring eight goals and providing one assist in 15 appearances. Fans and teammates eagerly await his full recovery and return to action.
