Popular social media critic Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has stirred up the internet by launching a new challenge to fund his debut song, Body of Christ.
Originally released as a response to his court fight with gospel artist Mercy Chinwo, the song has become viral on social media.
VDM reportedly collaborated with a producer on the song, and he even went ahead to name dropping featuring street-hop artist Portable Zazu at some point.
Portable, however, reacted bitterly to the news, openly denying the collaboration.
Aside from boosting the popularity of the song, VDM has also been prompting people to come up with their own verses as they vibe along to the track.
To put a cherry on top, he announced a ₦1 million reward for the best submission, and this opened up extensive participation.
“Who is taking the 1 million naira?” he posted, inviting engagement from aspiring artists and fans.
Social media users were quick to respond, sharing their opinion about the top contenders:
@dr.deeofficial: “1st Guy can spit bars, 2nd Guy is creative, 3rd Girl is melody-wise creative, 4th Guy provides Shallipopi energy, and the 5th Guy has Marlian vibes.
They are all great, but in my opinion, I love the 2nd guy.”
@prguy_: “Second slide amass here!! He was reciting the obvious facts.”
@maaju_de_bees: “I think you should collab them together to create one official song, @verydarkblackman.”
@izu_exy: “@retired_madman2 did well. His verse relates to the purpose of the song and the fight for a greater Nigeria.”
@official_kingshed: “First guy good but second guy is more lyrical. He spelt all the facts!”
@man_like_mak: “First guy 500k, 2nd guy 500k. Both of them wrap up job.”
@asian_bullet: “Abeg, give the 2nd guy his credit already ooo! Man delivered his message well.”
