Popular Nigerian fashion designer and influencer Veekee James has responded to critics who claim she shares too much about her marriage online, insisting that privacy isn’t the key to a successful union.
Speaking on the Creativitea Live with Linda podcast, Veekee dismissed the belief that keeping a marriage off social media ensures longevity.
She argued that even private relationships can fail, using real-life examples to back her point.
“At first, when we started getting backlash on social media, people kept telling me to keep my husband off the internet because he is a quiet man.
Some even said that private marriages last longer,” she said. “But I’ve seen marriages that were kept off social media and didn’t even last a month. I’ve seen things people hid that didn’t last.”
Veekee, who regularly shares loved-up moments with her husband, Femi Atere, has faced mixed reactions online, with some fans enjoying her openness while others feel she overshares.
Despite the criticism, she remains firm in her belief that how a couple chooses to share their love has no bearing on the success of their marriage.
Interestingly, the designer previously opened up about a past relationship that ended despite her deep investment in it.
