The United States government has released the 2025 Visa Waiver Program (VWP) list, naming countries whose citizens can visit the US visa-free for up to 90 days for tourism or business.
While most of the 40 participating countries from previous years remained unchanged, Romania was newly added to the list.
However, the United Kingdom was excluded, though its citizens may still be eligible under specific conditions.
Notably, no African country, including Nigeria, Ghana, and South Africa, was included in the program.
The US Bureau of Consular Affairs clarified that travelers from VWP-eligible countries must secure Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) approval before their trip.
“Travellers must have a valid ESTA approval prior to travel and meet all requirements explained below.
If you prefer to have a visa in your passport, you may still apply for a visitor visa,” the agency stated.
