United Capital Mourns Six Staff Lost in Afriland Towers Fire

United Capital Plc has confirmed the death of six staff members in the September 16, 2025, Afriland Towers, Lagos fire.

The organization described the deceased as valuable colleagues and family members, and their demise leaves an immeasurable void in the organization.

In a press release, United Capital said: “It is with profound sorrow that the Management and Staff of United Capital Plc announce the passing of six of our dear colleagues in the unfortunate fire incident at Afriland Towers. Their sudden demise leaves an unforgettable void. We sympathize with their families, friends, and loved ones, and remain supportive of them through this difficult time.”.

The accident, which claimed the lives of four Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) staff, has officially placed the death toll at 10.

United Capital also announced that arrangements are ongoing for a memorial service to celebrate the lives of the victims. The company appreciated emergency services for their interventions in the accident.

“During this period of immense sadness, we are together in standing as one in solidarity, drawing strength from those around us as we navigate this moment,” the statement read.
