Emma Hennessey, Head of Scholarships Unit in the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), emphasized the caliber of candidates Chevening seeks:
“Chevening’s strong, highly competitive selection procedure means that those we select are the brightest and most ambitious people in the world. Chevening Alumni return home with the skills to make a real difference addressing world challenges and changing their communities.”
She further added:

Whether your vision is to influence policy, start a business, or address critical issues in society, this award enables you to gain a world-class education in the UK and return home able to make a difference.”
Montgomery encouraged Nigerians who are passionate to take the leap:
“If you have the potential to make a positive difference in Nigeria or the world, don’t miss out on this opportunity. Apply by 7 October 2025 and embark on a life-transforming experience.”
To date, over 60,000 professionals, worldwide have been empowered by the Chevening programme since it was launched in 1983, a reflection of the UK’s commitment to building future leaders around the world.
