The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has announced significant gains in internal security operations across Nigeria over the past week, reporting the neutralization of 109 terrorists and the arrest of 81 others. Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, disclosed this on Friday, noting that troops rescued 43 kidnapped victims, arrested six suspected oil thieves, and recovered stolen crude oil valued at N618,756,470.
The operations also yielded 21 assorted weapons, including nine AK-47 rifles, five fabricated rifles, four dane guns, three locally made pistols, and 124 rounds of various ammunition. Additional recoveries included seven magazines, four vehicles, six motorcycles, and communication gadgets. In the Niger Delta, troops destroyed 10 illegal refining sites, 10 crude oil cooking ovens, 10 dugout pits, 12 boats, and four storage tanks used for oil theft. The military vowed to sustain its offensive against criminals and secure communities nationwide.
