Troops of 1 Brigade under the Joint Task Force Operation Hadarin Daji, in collaboration with operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), intercepted a cache of arms abandoned by fleeing terrorists in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State. Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, Coordinator of the Joint Media Centre, Operation Hadarin Daji, stated on Tuesday that the operation followed intelligence on suspected arms dealers operating from Niger Republic.

Acting on this intelligence, troops launched a covert operation along the Kaura Namoda-Zurmi Road. The suspects attempted to evade capture by diverting their vehicle into a bush path but abandoned it after being engaged by the troops. A search of the vehicle uncovered a significant arms haul, including two PKT machine guns, nine AK-47 rifles, 13 magazines, 171 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and nine rounds of PKT ammunition.

Lt. Col. Abdullahi assured the public that troops remain committed to apprehending wanted terrorist kingpin Bello Turji, who has been evading capture by moving between hideouts. The statement called on locals to support military efforts by providing information that could assist in the pursuit of Turji and other criminal elements. The operation underscores the military’s dedication to ensuring the safety and security of communities in Zamfara and surrounding regions.
