President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to positioning Nigeria as a leading global agricultural exporter by 2025, a key goal of his Renewed Hope Agenda. Speaking at the Road to South-South National Convergence for the Renewed Hope Agenda event held at the Presidential Villa on Tuesday, Tinubu, represented by the Minister of Regional Development, Abubakar Momoh, also launched the Earn from the Soil initiative.
“This initiative is a powerful declaration that we are committed to turning our non-oil resources into collective prosperity,” Tinubu stated. “By 2025, Nigeria will be a leading agricultural export nation.”
The Earn from the Soil project is designed to transform Nigeria’s agricultural sector from subsistence farming to an export-driven powerhouse. The initiative focuses on creating export opportunities, ensuring food security, and empowering citizens to drive economic prosperity.
Highlighting the untapped potential of the South-South region, known for its natural resources and talent, Tinubu called for increased investment in non-oil sectors. “The South-South is open for business just as the whole of Nigeria is ready for business. We are creating an ecosystem of opportunity, innovation, and sustainable growth,” he said.
The president also stressed the importance of young people and women in driving the initiative’s success. “Your energy, creativity, and determination will drive Nigeria’s economic revolution,” he remarked.
Tinubu appealed for strategic partnerships with local and international stakeholders to build a resilient economic ecosystem, shifting away from dependence on traditional aid. He assured Nigerians that the Earn from the Soil initiative represents a significant milestone in restoring hope and confidence in the nation’s future.
