President Bola Tinubu has conferred the prestigious Fellowship of the Security Institute (FSI) on 91 graduates of the Executive Intelligence Management Course 17 (EIMC-17) at the National Institute for Security Studies (NISS), the educational arm of the Department of State Services (DSS).
The graduates completed a ten-month inter-agency security intelligence program with a focus on Artificial Intelligence. Participants included representatives from African nations such as Côte d’Ivoire, Gambia, Chad, Rwanda, and Ghana, marking a milestone in inter-agency collaboration and international security training.
The president, represented at the event by National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, praised the leadership of DSS Director General Oluwatosin Adeola Ajayi, commending his efforts to enhance the agency’s operations and the institute’s achievements. Ribadu noted that the ceremony underscored the DSS’s commitment to fostering advanced intelligence and security capabilities across the continent.
In his remarks, Mr. Ajayi expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for entrusting him with the leadership of the DSS and highlighted the institute’s evolution. From its beginnings as the Abuja Training School in 1999, it transitioned into the Institute for Security Studies in 2008 before attaining its current status as the National Institute for Security Studies, following the signing of the NISS Bill into law by former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019.
Mr. Ajayi also emphasized the importance of the fellowship, noting that it is a key criterion for advancing into the management cadre of security and intelligence organizations.
