Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a 22-year-old male school teacher for molesting a seven-year-old female pupil in Ilesa. Rufai Akorede, a local school teacher in Ilesa, was arrested following his alleged sexual abuse of the minor girl on multiple occasions, including forcing her to perform oral sex on him.
State Commandant Igbalawole Sotiyo had directed an instant and extensive investigation upon receiving the report, said Kehinde Adeleke, the Public Relations Officer of the Command.
“Our investigation revealed that the suspect began molesting the victim at some point in 2024,” Adeleke explained.
“In his confession, Akorede attested that after school, he commanded the girl to close all windows in a classroom before assaulting her.”
The second incident was reported to have occurred on March 20, 2025, when Akorede inappropriately touched the girl after other pupils had departed. The suspect was taken before the Magistrate Court sitting at Ilesha on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, where he denied the charge. He has been detained at the Ilesa Correctional Centre pending trial.
Commandant Sotiyo issued a stern warning to others who are engaged in such activities, promising them grave consequences for those who prey on children.
