Turkish giants Galatasaray are set to make a record-breaking offer to secure Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen on a permanent deal, following his blistering loan spell with the club. Osimhen joined Galatasaray on loan from Napoli after a proposed transfer to Chelsea fell through. The Super Eagles striker has been on fire since joining the Istanbul club, netting 28 goals in 32 appearances across all competitions. His goal-scoring exploits have aided Galatasaray in their push for the Turkish Super Lig championship and a domestic cup triumph. Spanish media AS, cited by Cumhuriyet, claim that Galatasaray are ready to break the bank with a €70 million record offer to Napoli for Osimhen’s signature. The deal also includes a lucrative three-year contract for the striker, worth €15 million a season after tax, with performance bonuses. If finalized, the salary package would make Osimhen one of the highest-paid players outside the top five European leagues, on par with offers from some of the Premier League’s heavyweights. However, Galatasaray will face stiff competition from top European clubs like Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Saudi Arabian clubs—all of whom are closely monitoring the striker’s next destination.   Related Posts Premier League January Transfer Window Opens: Clubs Begin Squad Overhauls The Premier League January transfer window officially opened on Wednesday, allowing clubs to strengthen their squads for the remainder of Read more NFF President Gusau Vows to Prioritize National Teams’ Success in 2025 President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau MON, has assured Nigerians of the Federation’s commitment to Read more Super Eagles Goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali Mourns the Loss of His Mother Stanley Nwabali, the goalkeeper for Chippa United and the Super Eagles, has shared the devastating news of his mother’s passing. Super Eagles frontman Victor Osimhen is said to have turned down an offer from Serie A giants Juventus for his much-desired transfer to the English Premier League. The 26-year-old has been a top target for Juventus before the summer transfer window. But, according to JuveFC, Osimhen is set to make the move to a Premier League team instead. Currently, Osimhen is on loan to Galatasaray from Napoli, with the deal commencing last September. He will be free to be offered a €75 million release clause in the summer. According to leadership.ng, the Nigerian forward has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs, including Chelsea, Manchester United, and Arsenal. Osimhen has been in top-notch shape this season, having netted 20 goals from only 23 league appearances for Galatasaray. The race to become Nigeria’s all-time leading goal scorer is a mark of excellence for any Super Eagles striker. Over the years, the team has produced outstanding forwards, with Victor Osimhen currently leading the new generation. Osimhen etched his name into Nigerian football legend by dislodging Segun Odegbami for the second spot on Super Eagles all-time top scorer list. He reached his 24th and 25th international career goals as Nigeria defeated Rwanda 2-0 in the Group C 2026 World Cup qualifying encounter. The match, held at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali, saw the Super Eagles keep alive their chase to bring to an end a third straight failure to qualify to the Mundial. However, Nigeria’s top scorer remains Rashidi Yekini, whose 37 goals in 58 appearances set a record that has stood for 26 years since his retirement in 1998. The legendary Shooting Stars forward maintained an impressive scoring rate of 0.64 goals per game, making him the most prolific striker in Nigeria’s history. While the current crop of attackers, including Osimhen, continue to chase history, Yekini’s legacy remains unmatched. The Super Eagles have also produced a number of leading scorers in the past, who in their own capacity have contributed to Nigerian football. Super Eagles talismanic striker Victor Osimhen believed that the team needs to correct the mistakes they made in the first phase of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, if they are to be in contention again for qualification to the tournament in the Americas. Nigeria, who did not qualify for the last World Cup after going down to Ghana in a two-legged playoff, began on a poor note after drawing three of their initial four games, and host Rwanda on Friday, who have a four-point lead over them. Osimhen, who missed most of those games, has returned and is hoping to inspire his teammates to catch up, recounting in an interview on the John Obi Mikel’s ‘Obi One’ podcast: “We have to give everything. “It is the dream of every youngster to be at the World Cup, mine is no exception. I want to be there, just like every other of my Super Eagles teammates and we are really looking forward to the game against Rwanda to try to correct all the mistakes we have made in the past World Cup qualifiers so for me, we will be ready.” According to leadershipng, Nigeria’s first four games were played with two different coaches. Jose Peseiro coached the first two which ended in draws, while Finidi George coached the last two, losing to Benin Republic and drawing at home against South Africa. Those results cost him his job. Now, Eric Sekou Chelle is at the helm and Osimhen says the new man can reinvigorate the team: “He called me, we spoke. I know him from the previous AFCON and what he did with the Mali team. We watched Mali and he’s a coach that really loves to play, that really loves to flight. Similar to me. ESPN reports that Galatasaray’s striker, who is known as a combative player on the field, took that to heart and was one of the first players to turn up in Nigeria’s camp in Rwanda when the camp opened early this week, arriving only 24 hours after securing a league win for Gala at the weekend. He said: “Nigeria is a big country, with millions of football players. So if you are privileged to put on the jersey, you have to give everything. Now we have a coach that is ready to give everything and I believe we all have to follow his example and give everything.” Related Posts Premier League January Transfer Window Opens: Clubs Begin Squad Overhauls The Premier League January transfer window officially opened on Wednesday, allowing clubs to strengthen their squads for the remainder of Read more NFF President Gusau Vows to Prioritize National Teams’ Success in 2025 President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau MON, has assured Nigerians of the Federation’s commitment to Read more Super Eagles Goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali Mourns the Loss of His Mother Stanley Nwabali, the goalkeeper for Chippa United and the Super Eagles, has shared the devastating news of his mother’s passing.
