SUNDAY IGBOHO: NIGERIANS LOSING THEIR SENSE OF CITIZENSHIP DUE TO NATIONAL CHALLENGES

In a candid video statement from a UK airport on Thursday, prominent Yoruba Nation advocate Sunday Adeyemo, better known as Sunday Igboho, expressed concerns about Nigerians’ waning sense of national identity amid mounting challenges facing the country. The activist highlighted how widespread corruption, deteriorating security conditions, and economic hardships have eroded patriotic sentiment among citizens. Speaking from personal observation, he pointed to security lapses even within Nigerian airports, where passengers’ belongings remain vulnerable to theft. “Even inside the airport, there is no security. They can steal your belongings inside your bag,” Igboho remarked, using this as an example of why many citizens struggle to maintain pride in their Nigerian identity. Taking his argument further, Igboho advocated for the possibility of regional separation if national unity proves unsustainable. He particularly emphasized the potential of the Yoruba nation, citing the global exposure and expertise of its youth population. “Our youths will transform Yoruba nation,” he declared optimistically, noting how many young Yoruba people have gained valuable international experience. “Most of them have travelled across the world, and they have learned a lot. If they come back to Yoruba land, the knowledge will help them build it and transform the nation like those in Europe.” Related Posts Uriel was evicted, not Adekunle or Doyin.
