Spyro Opens Up About Challenges as a Christian Advocate in the Nigerian Music Industry

Afrobeats artist Spyro has opened up about the difficulties he faces as a public advocate of Jesus Christ within the Nigerian music scene, highlighting discrimination and a lack of support as major obstacles. In an interview with Echo Room, Spyro shared that his decision to embrace the “Jesus Boy” brand has brought him significant criticism. He explained that this has been his biggest challenge in the industry, saying, “My biggest challenge in the music industry right now is discrimination. I came out with the ‘Jesus boy’ brand, and I’ve received the biggest criticisms.” He expressed frustration over the lack of support from key media figures, who he claims intentionally ignore his efforts while supporting other artists. “If you want to be truthful to yourself, how many media moguls support or post me when I drop songs? You see them posting other artists. Apart from the blogs I paid to post me, how many media moguls post me?” he remarked. Spyro believes that this resistance is directly linked to his open declaration of faith. He stated, “Once you come out and declare Christ publicly, you enter a war. It’s like the whole system is designed to pull you down.” Spyro also shared that he wasn’t the only one to face such challenges. He recounted a conversation with R&B singer-turned-pastor Banky W, who revealed that his career struggles began after he publicly proclaimed his Christian faith. “Banky W told me that his problem started in the industry the moment he proclaimed Christ. He said when he was a ‘bad boy,’ everything was going well, but immediately he decided to do it in a godly way, war started,” Spyro shared. Related Posts Uriel was evicted, not Adekunle or Doyin. Spyro Accuses Ubi Franklin of Using Davido’s Name to Manipulate Him into Performance

Nigerian singer Spyro has shared a troubling experience involving music executive Ubi Franklin, accusing him of exploiting Davido’s name to manipulate him into performing at an event under false pretenses. In a recent interview on The Link Up podcast; as shared by echorrom_, Spyro revealed that Ubi Franklin approached him with an offer to perform at a birthday party, claiming that Davido had invited him and would pay $5,000 for the performance. After taking the stage, Spyro reportedly asked about his payment, only to be told that Davido was unaware of the arrangement. Reflecting on the incident, Spyro called it a “broad daylight scam,” accusing Ubi Franklin of falsely using Davido’s name to secure his performance. In Spyro’s words: “Ubi came and said David invited us to perform at the birthday party and promised $5,000. I pulled him aside and said, ‘Bro, I don’t charge 5k; the least I charge is N20 million.’ After the performance, I asked Ubi about the payment, and he confessed that Davido wasn’t aware of the arrangement. I was shocked—this was broad daylight scam!” View this post on Instagram A post shared by EchooRoom (@echooroom_) Related Posts Uriel was evicted, not Adekunle or Doyin.
