Naira Marley Presents Evidence in Court, Denies Role in Mohbad’s Death

Popular music artiste Naira Marley on Friday testified in a Magistrate Court in Ikorodu via virtual hearing in the Coroner’s inquest into the death of late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad. In testifying before Magistrate Adedayo Shotobi, Naira Marley disclosed that Mohbad had signed a record deal with his record label, Marlian Records, for four albums. The albums never materialized as there were constant disagreements between Mohbad and his manager, Opere Babatunde. The artist refuted ever threatening or attacking Mohbad, citing a police report that had exonerated him of such claims. When questioned on a viral clip where Mohbad stated Naira Marley and the Marlian crew should be held responsible in case anything happens to him, Marley replied that the deceased singer and his parents later issued an apology, stating that the clip was filmed when Mohbad was under the influence of drugs. “The only issue he had was with Tunde his manager. Their fight started from a group chat which I still have the evidence with me. I tried to settle their differences but it got out of hand to the extent that they got physical. “I even gave Mohbad the option of changing his manager if that would make him happy. When they got physical I didn’t report to the police because it was Mohbad that employed Tunde.” “I have never threatened Mohbad neither did I bully him. Samlarry is a friend to both me and Mohbad. I never instructed him to beat Mohbad. I never cheated him neither did I exploit him. “I requested for a virtual hearing today because of my safety. I have received threats from people saying they will kill me if I ever show up at Ikorodu. Ever since Mohbad left my record label, I never set my eyes on him. I was not in Nigeria when he died. I only came back to Nigeria to support the case,” he stated. Another witness, Mohbad’s lawyer, Oluwasanmi Falade, challenged Marley’s assertions, confirming that there had been a disagreement between Mohbad, the deceased artist, and Marlian Records over unpaid royalties. Falade revealed that he had written a series of letters to Marlian Records on Mohbad’s behalf but never got a response. He also added that the matter was currently in court under the Federal High Court. According to sources, the lawyer also testified that Mohbad was attacked by music promoter Sam Larry at Lekki Beach and had reported the matter at the police. The Force Headquarters allegedly made two unsuccessful attempts to arrest Sam Larry, Falade added. In her follow-up ruling after testimonies, the Magistrate directed Sam Larry to appear again at the Coroner’s court next adjourned date, that is April 11. The Coroner also directed that the Coroner issues a witness summons to Mohbad’s driver so that they may give their testimony. The court also directed pathologist, who conducted an independent autopsy on Mohbad, to send his findings both to the Coroner’s court and Chief Coroner prior to adjournment in the next sitting. The post-mortem on Mohbad remains ongoing as police try to determine the circumstances surrounding the death of the late singer. Related Posts Uriel was evicted, not Adekunle or Doyin. Naira Marley Speaks Out After Exoneration in Mohbad’s Death

Nigerian artist Naira Marley has broken his silence after being cleared of any involvement in the death of fellow musician Mohbad. In a heartfelt statement shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, Marley revealed that he and Mohbad had resolved their past differences before the tragic incident. However, he expressed deep frustration over how the situation was handled, criticizing the delay in Mohbad’s burial and the ever-changing narratives surrounding his passing. Despite repeatedly denying any wrongdoing, Marley endured heavy public scrutiny and accusations. Reflecting on the ordeal, he shared his pain, saying: “I never thought silence could be so loud. I never thought someone I called my brother, someone I protected, would leave this world with my name in his shadow. I have carried this weight, this pain, this shame that was never mine to bear.” He acknowledged that mistakes were made within his Marlian crew but insisted that any issues were business-related, not personal. He maintained that he and Mohbad had reached an understanding before his death, stating: “I made peace with Mohbad. We understood each other beyond the noise, beyond the misunderstandings. And you know this.” Marley also accused those close to Mohbad of shifting blame onto him, saying they allowed the world to paint him as a villain while knowing the truth. He criticized them for withholding key information and delaying the musician’s burial, adding: “Telling the truth from the beginning would have given him the rest he deserves.” Despite his struggles, Marley declared that he has faced the justice system head-on and will stand by the truth, regardless of the challenges. A Yaba magistrate court dismissed all charges against Marley, Sammy Larry, and Prime Boy on Tuesday, officially clearing them of any connection to Mohbad’s death. Court Clears Naira Marley, Sam Larry, and Prime Boy of Involvement in Mohbad’s Death

A Lagos Magistrate Court in Yaba has officially cleared Naira Marley, Sam Larry, and Prime Boy of any involvement in the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad. Mohbad, whose real name was Ilerioluwa Aloba, passed away on September 24, 2023, leaving a significant void in Nigeria’s entertainment industry. His death sparked widespread speculation, leading to multiple investigations and court trials. On February 25, 2025, the Lagos Magistrate Court ruled that allegations against Naira Marley (Mohbad’s former record label boss), Sam Larry, and Prime Boy (a close associate) should be dismissed due to a lack of evidence. However, the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has recommended prosecution against Feyisayo Ogedengbe, the auxiliary nurse who treated Mohbad before his death, and Ayobami Sodiq, a friend of the late singer. Following the court’s decision, many Nigerians took to social media to express their opinions, with some questioning the justice system and others calling for closure. Mary Enakpoke: “😂😂😂 So what do you people think we were expecting? Justice? That’s funny. Who doesn’t know that the only crime in Nigeria is poverty?” Pleasure Somoto: “They should lay him to rest and leave justice for God. Everybody will die one day.” Ann Adra: “The family of Mohbad should let him rest in peace.” Osaiogbo Efe: “What about his wife? She still hasn’t told the public what really happened that night. Young men, be careful when choosing a life partner.” Related Posts Uriel was evicted, not Adekunle or Doyin. Mohbad’s Widow, Wunmi, Speaks Out on Late Husband’s Struggles and Justice Battle

Wunmi, the widow of late Nigerian singer Mohbad, has once again opened up about the pain her husband endured before his tragic passing and the ongoing fight for justice. In a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Wunmi alleged that Marlian Records boss, Naira Marley, and his associate, Sam Larry, made life unbearable for Mohbad. She expressed deep concerns over how their son, Liam, will one day have to witness the traumatic experiences his father went through. “Naira Marley and Sam Larry cannot deny the fact that they made life unbearable for my husband. The videos online cannot be erased, and Liam will grow up to see them. Ipray he doesn’t get traumatized when he sees how his dad was beaten. Even for me, it’s heartbreaking, but at this point, I’m fighting for my life and my son’s life,” she said. Wunmi also revealed a rift within the family, stating that Mohbad’s father has been supportive of Naira Marley and Sam Larry, which she believes has hindered the pursuit of true justice. “Mohbad’s dad has been on Naira Marley’s side. He is speaking for them and trying to save them. Up till now, justice for Mohbad has not been served, and the justice his dad is looking for is different from what the public wants,” she added. Mohbad, born Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, passed away in September 2023 under controversial circumstances, sparking nationwide protests and calls for a thorough investigation. While legal proceedings are ongoing, Wunmi believes that true justice remains out of reach. Related Posts Uriel was evicted, not Adekunle or Doyin. In a video shared on his TikTok page, Oloba Salo claimed he was shot three times during the attack, boldly stating that his allegations were not a ploy for clout. Speaking with conviction, Salo alleged that Naira Marley and his crew were behind the attack. It was Naira Marley and his boys that shot me, and I have the evidence,” he said.
