Youths in Gombe State were reportedly looting Ramadan palliatives meant to be distributed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu. The palliative response was part of Seyi Tinubu’s attempt to help the underprivileged during Ramadan. He has been moving around various north states, joining citizens and political actors for Iftar and starting feeding programs to dispense staple food items among the underprivileged. According to reports, the exercise lasted longer than expected in Gombe, and it turned chaotic as some people snatched food items by force from those giving them out to neighboring communities. Although the circumstances of what occurred are yet to be established, eyewitnesses stated the absence of proper coordination could have caused it. The incident has witnessed a surge in reaction on social media, where most people denounced the act. “This is unfortunate. People need to learn how to be patient. These palliatives were to help all of us, but greed has gotten the best out of people,” a user stated. Another griped, “If the distribution was well organized, this wouldn’t have happened. Who is really responsible for organizing these events?”   Related Posts Market offers rent-now, pay-later answer to tenants.
