Tinubu Travels to France for Strategic Mid-Term Review of Administration’s Performance

President Bola Tinubu will go to Paris, France, on Wednesday on a short working visit to conduct a mid-term review of his administration’s performance and strategize on future reforms. Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga announced in a statement that Tinubu will use the retreat to evaluate key milestones, assess current reforms, and chart strategies for his administration’s second anniversary. This period of reflection will inform plans to further accelerate current reforms and move the country’s development agenda forward in the new year,” the statement read. The visit follows recent economic progress, including the increase in Nigeria’s net foreign exchange reserves to $23.11 billion, up from $3.99 billion in 2023, reflecting the impact of fiscal reforms under Tinubu. Despite his period abroad, the president will remain actively engaged with his team and continue with governance tasks. He should be back in Nigeria in about two weeks. France Gives Citizens Invasion Guide after President Emmanuel Macron Says that Europe Must Prepare for War

The French government has handed out its citizens a guide on how to respond when there is an invasion after President Emmanuel Macron gave the warning that Europe must prepare for war, The move comes as tensions in Europe have been escalating and fears over Russia’s aggressive stance. The new 20-page booklet, well known to be packed with 63 measures, will help the French defend themselves and their loved ones in the event of armed conflict, natural disasters, industrial accidents or even in the event of a nuclear leak. It will also give guidance on how to prepare a ‘survival kit’ with things like six litres of water, tinned food, batteries, a torch, and basic medical supplies like paracetamol and bandages. It also gives guidance on what to do if an attack is imminent, like how to sign up for local defence groups, such as reserve units or firefighting units. Citizens will also be told to ‘lock their doors’ in case of a nuclear accident. The government is, however, eager to distance the publication from Russia’s incursion into Ukraine. President Emmanuel Macron has previously warned that Europe needs to prepare to face the ‘Russian threat’ and become accustomed to the fact that America might cut its military aid. Earlier this week, Macron said that French fighter jets equipped with new generation hypersonic nuclear missiles would be stationed along the German frontier as part of his bid to restore France’s air-powered nuclear deterrent. The General Secretariat for Defence and National Security (SGDSN) officials, who are responsible for the production of the booklet, maintain that the intention of the survival guide is simply to enhance France’s ability to withstand ‘all types of crises’. The launch of the kit was also witnessed by French daily Le Figaro, who stated the move ‘could easily be seen as the state reacting to the uncertain international environment’. Macron has lately invited Europe to rear up against Russian aggression in Ukraine and the indecisive behavior of America toward maintaining European security under Donald Trump. He started doubling the French defence budget over his two terms and just announced an even more ambitious goal, saying that the country should increase defence spending to 3-3.5 per cent of economic output from the current 2 per cent. He has also vowed to extend the protection of France’s nuclear weapons, the so-called nuclear umbrella, to other European countries. Related Posts Market offers rent-now, pay-later answer to tenants.
