Opeyemi Famakin Comes to the Defence of Chef T in Wumi Toriola Call-Out Drama

Nigerian food critic Opeyemi Famakin has come to the defence of celebrity food blogger Tolani Osikoya, alias Chef T of Diary of a Kitchen Lover, following a social media drama with actress Wumi Toriola. Social media was abuzz on March 13, 2025, when Wumi Toriola dragged Chef T for supposedly ignoring her proposal for collaboration. This was amidst reports that actress Funke Akindele had unfollowed Chef T and several other influencers, which fueled rumors of backstage drama. Toriola shared screenshots of her exchange with the food blogger and accused her of arrogance. Social media users quickly took sides, debating whether Toriola was justified in calling her out publicly or Chef T was being unfairly dragged. Adding to the drama, Opeyemi Famakin stated his stance in an Instagram video, where he defended Chef T strongly and criticized Wumi Toriola’s approach. “We don’t do Chef T slander here,” he said. “Chef T is a sweetheart. She’s positively contributing to the food space in Nigeria and Africa, and I’m not going to stand by while one actress who didn’t get a collaboration drags her name.” Famakin pointed out that Chef T collaborates with established and aspiring influencers frequently and that no one is entitled to a collaboration simply because they ask for it. He further noted the irony in Toriola’s actions, stating that she had initially sounded like a fan but was quite quick to turn on the chef when she didn’t get feedback. Famakin’s comments didn’t sit well with Wumi Toriola, and he responded in the comment section of his Instagram post. She claimed he was attempting to gain relevance from the controversy and questioned his credibility as a food critic. Her response was: “Dear Opeyemi, There is no need whatsoever to act like a coward. My name is Wumi Toriola, and I am only responding to your tantrums and utter desperation for attention – if it gives you even a hint of relevance, I truly do not care. It’s rather amusing, though, coming from someone without a defined career or any tangible job description. You’ve caused more harm than good to struggling entrepreneurs, all under the guise of being a self-appointed food critic. Next time you feel like coming for me, perhaps take some time off, establish a long-term career, or build a successful business of your own. Then your words would weigh a little more. Sincerely, Wumi Toriola.” The incident later drew reactions from social media users, with some opinions divided over who was in the right. While some defended Famakin’s actions, others felt he had no right inserting himself into a fight between two women. Some had this to say: @Abdul_hashim_mohd: “I think he let emotions get the better of him because he knows the chef personally. But it’s not his call to make about who is to be dragged and who isn’t.” @Deejaah_wears: “Two women get issue, you dey put mouth, brother ode ????.” @Houseoftommie: “Make nobody drag my Chef T ooo Ehn Ehn make pkitipkiti no bayi ooo Ehn Ehn.” @Soji_soft: “Ope wan dey see free food chop ????.”. @Mumc_bella: “He said what he said ????.” @Skincity_by_moonstone: “I don’t even think this can hurt Wumi ????????????. What a great time to be alive! Someone who ruined other people’s brands due to cargo backlogs… leave Chef T alone.” Related Posts Uriel was evicted, not Adekunle or Doyin. DSS, EFCC Strengthen Collaboration to Combat Terrorism Financing

The Department of State Services (DSS) has called for stronger collaboration with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to enhance intelligence sharing, particularly in the fight against terrorism financing. This appeal was made during a courtesy visit by the DSS Director in Enugu State, Mr. Humphrey Ohikhuare, to the EFCC Zonal Director, Enugu Zonal Directorate, CE Mohammed Shuaib Bello. During the visit, Ohikhuare acknowledged the EFCC’s critical role in sustaining Nigeria’s economy by tackling corruption, economic, and financial crimes. He commended the agency’s efforts in investigating and prosecuting fraudulent individuals which he said has helped in ensuring that national resources are effectively utilized for the benefit of the people. He emphasized the need for synergy in intelligence sharing to disrupt terrorism financing in Enugu State. “I came to collaborate with you in terms of intelligence gathering. One of our core mandates in the state is to fight terrorism, and we know that terrorists cannot operate without funding. Some of these funds flow through the financial system. My visit is to strengthen our intelligence-sharing efforts so that together, we can cut off their sources of funding and curb terrorism in Enugu State,” Ohikhuare stated. In response, EFCC Zonal Director Bello welcomed the collaboration, highlighting that DSS is a key stakeholder in the commission’s operations. He assured that the Enugu Zonal Directorate would continue to support the DSS in tackling terrorism financing. “The core mandate of the EFCC is to investigate and prosecute economic and financial crimes. As you rightly pointed out, terrorism cannot thrive without financing, so this collaboration is crucial. We are committed to intelligence sharing because without it, neither the EFCC nor the DSS can effectively fulfill their mandates,” Bello said. He reaffirmed the long-standing partnership between both agencies and pledged maximum support in their joint mission to disrupt financial networks that fuel terrorism.
