Transfer: Man United in Battle with Chelsea for Ipswich Striker Liam Delap

Manchester United are ready to battle with Chelsea to sign Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap. The 20-year-old striker has emerged as one of the top targets in the summer after an impressive last season in the Premier League. Delap, who was signed by Ipswich from Manchester City last summer for £20 million, netted 12 goals in his inaugural top-flight season. Notwithstanding Ipswich’s relegation battle at the moment, the young forward has attracted interest from top flight clubs for his displays. United boss Ruben Amorim has identified Delap as his preferred choice centre-forward option, moving from more expensive options such as Viktor Gyokeres, Benjamin Sesko and Victor Osimhen. According to sources, it is believed that it is economic sense behind this move, and Delap’s reported fee of around £40 million being a cheaper option. Chelsea, also in pursuit of attacking reinforcements, are still keen on Delap’s signature as they want to bring in a young and proven Premier League goal-scorer to their squad.
