Popular Nigerian singer Speed Darlington has lost his legal representation as his lawyer, Stan Alieke, and his firm, Law Capitol, have officially withdrawn from working with him.
The announcement comes shortly after Speed Darlington’s release from jail, where he spent two months following his legal issues with Burna Boy.
Despite their efforts to secure his freedom, Stan Alieke has decided to step away from representing the controversial artist.
In a statement shared online, the lawyer made it clear that they no longer act as Speed Darlington’s attorneys:
“I & my law firm (Law Capitol) have officially withdrawn from legally representing Mr. Darlington Achakpo, also known as Speed Darlington/Akpi, and henceforth cease to act as his legal attorneys.”
The development sparked reactions online, with many sharing their thoughts on the situation.
One user, Irrunnia, joked: “You dey represent person wey no dey hear word. Wetin you expect? 🤣”
Another, @diipodipe, commented: “For a decent lawyer, that’s a brilliant move. Let Akpi find a more animated, self-acclaimed human rights lawyer.”
Others poked fun at the situation, with @seanelhadji stating: “It’s Lawyer Layi Wasabi that will defend him las las!” and @clevernation23 adding: “Lolz, Akpi has already dropped him; he said he no get contact. 😂”
