Sokoto State Health Commissioner, Dr. Faruku Umar Abubakar, has issued a two-week ultimatum for unauthorized occupants of staff quarters in hospitals across the state to vacate or be forcefully evicted.
During an unscheduled visit to Wurno, Tangaza, and Binji General Hospitals, the commissioner was dismayed that non-staff members were depriving active healthcare workers of the much-needed accommodation space at the cost of service delivery.
At Wurno General Hospital, Dr. Abubakar blamed poor sanitation and directed the hospital’s management to improve cleanliness. He also requested them to forward issues impacting their operations to the Hospital Services Management Board for redress.
In Binji and Tangaza, he told staff that the state government is taking measures towards addressing relevant issues undermining the delivery of hospital services. He also revealed the approval of an ultrasound machine for General Hospital Tangaza to enhance medical services.
The Commissioner thanked members of the community for their support and involvement in hospital activities, reiterating the government’s effort in enhancing healthcare delivery in the state.
