Czech club Slavia Prague has celebrated defender Igho Ogbu’s first-ever invitation to the Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles.
Ogbu was included in the 39-man provisional squad announced by Nigeria’s head coach, Eric Chelle, for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
Expressing their excitement, Slavia Prague wrote on X:
“Igho Ogbu earns his first senior @NGSuperEagles call-up! Nigeria will face Rwanda and Zimbabwe in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers. Congratulations, Iggy! We are so proud of you!”
The 25-year-old previously featured for Nigeria at the U-20 level, representing the Flying Eagles at the 2019 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in Niger and the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland later that year.
Ogbu’s call-up marks a significant milestone in his career, as he gets the opportunity to represent Nigeria at the senior level for the first time.
