Singer Portable Surrenders to Ogun Police After Weeks on the Run

Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has finally turned himself in to the Ogun State Police Command after weeks of evading arrest. The self-styled “Zazu” crooner reported to the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) earlier in the day before surrendering to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Abeokuta at exactly 1:23 PM on February 19, 2025, according to police reports.

Portable’s arrest follows allegations that he attacked officials of the Ogun State Town Planning Agency during an enforcement operation at his property in Ilogbo. Confirming the development, Ogun State police spokesperson Omolola Odutola assured the public that due process would be followed, adding that updates would be provided as the investigation progresses.

The singer was declared wanted after a violent confrontation with three town planning officials—TPL Onabanjo Abidemi, TPL Raymond Lateef, and TPL Ridwan Oyero Akinlesi—who were carrying out their duties in Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu Ota. After the incident, Portable went into hiding, denying involvement and claiming he was undergoing psychiatric treatment. However, the police dismissed his claims and maintained their pursuit.

In a recent Instagram story, Portable hinted at surrendering, later issuing a public apology to the Ogun State government, explaining that fear had driven him to flee.
