Rivers Police Arrest Native Doctor, Three Others for Alleged Ritual Murder of Twins

Rivers State Police Command officers have arrested a native doctor, Kingsley Opurum, and three others for the alleged murder of a set of twins, 7-year-old Chizaram Onuche and Chidinma Onuche, for ritual in Rukpokwu Community, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.

The suspects, Kingsley Opurum (43), Luis John Uwelemele (19), Friday Silas (47), and Aniekan (27), were arrested following a report transferred from the Special Area Division, Rumuodomaya. The Anti-Kidnapping Unit operatives acted on the information and arrested them immediately.

The native doctor, as narrated by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Grace Iringe-Koko, lured the children to his side, drugged them with a drink named Black Bullet as a sedative, and murdered them, extracting their blood into a bottle.

“The corpses of the victims have been moved to the mortuary for preservation and autopsy,” Iringe-Koko said.

She proceeded to state the role of each suspect in the commission of the crime:

  • Aniekan (27), a native of Akwa Ibom and resident of 2nd Pipeline, Rukpokwu, had allegedly lured the victims to the crime scene, where they were drugged and killed.

  • Luis John Uwelemele (19), a native of Cross River State and girlfriend of Aniekan, had a role in the crime.

  • Kingsley Opurum (43), a native of Etche in Rivers State, was identified as the native doctor who ordered the ritual killings.

  • Friday Silas (47), a native of Plateau State, was reported to have provided the uncompleted building where the killings were performed.

During interrogation, Aniekan reportedly confessed that he became involved in ritual killings after witnessing the native doctor performing the same on other individuals for money. Opurum was reported to have instructed him to bring fresh human parts and blood for ritual.

Police detectives who visited the crime scene gathered essential evidence, which was:

  • A kitchen knife, used to commit the murder.

  • A bottle with the victims’ blood, which the suspects collected.

  • A Black Bullet can, empty, which was utilized in drugging the victims.

  • One spoon, which was alleged to have been utilized in collecting the victims’ blood.

Meanwhile, Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, promised the people that justice would prevail and urged the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
